Holy Land vacations: commune with God

Our Holy Land tours are a spiritual pilgrimage as well as a celebration of history and cultural diversity. Knowledgeable guides explain the region’s legends and the stories handed down through generations.

The first week is Jordan: Amman, Jerash, Madaba and Mount Nebo, Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea. You then cross into the Holy Land for Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee, Jerusalem and Bethlehem, finishing at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Garden Tomb.

  1. Jerusalem

    The Mount of Olives, Gethsemane, the Via Dolorosa and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

  2. Bethlehem

    The Church of the Nativity and Shepherd’s Field, with the Garden Tomb back in Jerusalem.

  3. The Sea of Galilee

    A boat ride on the lake, the Mount of Beatitudes, Tabgha and Capernaum.

  4. Nazareth and the Jordan River

    The Basilica of the Annunciation, and the baptismal site at Yardenit.

  5. Mount Nebo and Madaba

    Where Moses looked out over the promised land, and the sixth-century mosaic map at St George’s.

  6. Petra and Wadi Rum

    A full day in the rose-red city, then a jeep tour, the sunset and a night in the desert.

DAY 01Arrival in Amman

A member of our staff meets you at Queen Alia International Airport and takes you to your hotel in Amman. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 02The desert castles and downtown Amman

Start the day the way everyday Jordanians do, with a traditional breakfast at a local restaurant. Then out to the desert castles: Qasr Amra, Qasr al-Kharana and Qasr al-Azraq. After lunch, back to Amman for the downtown sights: the Roman Theatre, the Citadel, the Archaeological and Folklore Museums and the souks. Dinner at the hotel and overnight in Amman.

DAY 03Jerash and Ajloun

A full day in the north. Leave at 8 o’clock for Ajloun, then lunch in Jerash and a visit to the Roman city. Back to Amman for dinner at a traditional restaurant. Overnight in Amman.

DAY 04Madaba, Mount Nebo, the Dead Sea and Wadi Mujib

After breakfast, on to the Christian town of Madaba, the City of Mosaics, to see the mosaic map in St George’s Church and the Archaeological Park with the remains of several Byzantine churches. Then a detour to Mount Nebo and Wadi Mujib. Overnight in Petra.

DAY 05Petra

Petra, described as the “rose-red city, half as old as time”, was founded by the Nabataeans 2,000 years ago. A full day in Petra. Overnight in Petra.

DAY 06Little Petra and Wadi Rum

After breakfast, on to Beida, known as Little Petra, where the Nabataeans used to entertain their guests. In the early evening, drive to Wadi Rum for a jeep tour and the sunset. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

DAY 07The Dead Sea

Visit Bethany on the Jordan River, then swim in the warm, salty water of the Dead Sea, the lowest point on the surface of the earth. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 08Into the Holy Land: Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee

Cross from Jordan into the Holy Land and travel on to Nazareth, where you visit the Basilica of the Annunciation. If time allows, Cana of Galilee on the way. Continue to the Sea of Galilee and Tiberias.Overnight near the Sea of Galilee

DAY 09The Sea of Galilee and the Jordan River

A full day around the lake: Magdala, then a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, the Mount of Beatitudes, Tabgha and the Church of the Multiplication, and Capernaum. Finish at the Yardenit baptismal site on the Jordan River.Overnight near the Sea of Galilee

DAY 10Galilee to Jerusalem

Travel south to Jerusalem. The Mount of Olives and the Garden of Gethsemane, then into the Old City for the Christian sites, the Via Dolorosa and the Stations of the Cross, and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.Overnight in Jerusalem

DAY 11Jerusalem and Bethlehem

Mount Zion and the Upper Room, the site of the Last Supper. On to Bethlehem for the Church of the Nativity and Shepherd’s Field, and back to Jerusalem for the Garden Tomb.Overnight in Jerusalem

DAY 12Departure

Free time in Jerusalem for any last sightseeing, depending on your flight, then check out and transfer for departure.
